| Randy Hinds is the Vice
President for Information Technology (VPIT); Chief
Information Officer (CIO); Chief Human Resources Officer; and Professor
of Information Systems at Kennesaw State University, a dynamic and
progressive institution of higher learning in the University System of
Georgia. KSU is a nationally recognized "rising star" that has
grown dramatically since its first year of operation in 1966, in keeping
with the rapid expansion of Metropolitan Atlanta and Northwest Georgia.
Dr. Hinds joined KSU as the university’s first
CIO in 1998. He came to KSU after completing a distinguished 30-year
military career where he served in a variety of information technology
leadership positions. His final military assignment was at the National
Defense University in Washington D.C. where he was the Interim Dean of the
School of Information Warfare and Strategy, and Acting Director of the
Department of Defense’s Command and Control Research Program.
He earned his Ed.D. degree in Human Resource
Development from The George Washington University; a MBA majoring in ADP
Systems from the Florida Institute of Technology; and a BA majoring in
Management from the University of Puget Sound. In addition, Dr. Hinds is
a graduate of the National Security Fellows and Senior Officials in
National Security programs at Harvard University.
Dr. Hinds’ research interests include
investigating the relationship between information systems and
organizational learning. He frequently lectures within the University’s
computer science and information systems degree and communication
department programs.
A Washington State native, he and his wife, the
former Peggy Hanson of Odessa, Texas, reside in East Cobb County. They
have two children: a daughter, Jessica, is an Auburn University graduate
and currently lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania;
and a son, Jonathan, is a Senior at Kennesaw State University.
