No. Upper case and lower case letters will yield the same results.
You may use the wildcard when you are uncertain of spelling. For example, if you want to search for someone based on last name and you know that his or her last name begins with Sto but you are unsure how to spell the entire last name you could use the wild card. Therefore, you would type in sto*.
Note: sto and sto* yield the same results.
Another example demonstrates using two wildcards in a search. Example: *science* would yield anything that has the word science in the department field. Therefore, your results might have the department of Computer Science, Biological & Physical Science, and Sport Science and Physical Education.
Search by is what you base your search on. For example, you are looking for someone by the last name of Smith, but because there are several people with the last name of Smith, you would probably want to sort by first name, putting all of the Smiths in alphabetical order. So, your results would look something like this:
º Smith, Andy
º Smith, Bob
º Smith, John
º Smith, Sarah
In the search for text box type in the department name. Do NOT abbreviate the department name. Type in the full name of the department or at least the first word of the department name. For example, for the department of Information Technology Services you would type in the entire department name or at least the word information. Then click on search.
Fully printed, the directory is about 35-40 pages long. This will vary depending on factors such as the type of printer and screen resolution. Please note, it is recommended that the entire directory be printed on a large printer, like the HP LaserJet printer 5si or 8000 series.
In the search for text box type in the extension then in the Search By pull down menu, select EXTENSION.
