Course Objectives:
At the end of this course, the student will:
* understand and be able to use general linguistics terms/concepts
* analyze the competing theories of second language acquisition
* articulate how theories of second language acquisition can be applied
in
a second or foreign language setting
* critique various methodologies of second language pedagogy in
light of their theoretical basis
* develop her own philosophy of language and language learning
* discuss current linguistic issues in contemporary society
