Grand Prize, 1995 Delius Composition Contest. Premiered by flutist Paul Brittan and the contemporary ensemble Thamyris. Virtuosity required. First movement is largely introspective and lyrical, includes some fast playing. Lyrical and delicate second movement features alto flute. Third movement primarily fast and rhythmic but also includes a variety of subtle tone colors in the second cadenza.
