[This page is a work-in-progress whose purpose is to supply students with

trustworthy (though sometimes improvised) samples of MLA-style

Works Consulted citations, an especially difficult task nowadays,

with so many variations because of electronic media and with the limitations

of html, which seem to preclude hanging indentations. But we try.

—RWH, 29 Apr. 2002; page revised March 26, 2003.]

[While this bibliographical convention in essay writing is most commonly called

"Works Cited," I prefer Works Consulted (also sanctioned by MLA Style)

to allow the inclusion of works associated with the research at hand, with the topic in general,

or with a class during a semester.  This page should begin with the title centered

at the top margin, but this one below is temporarily obstructed by my headnote.

In addition, sometimes when this form is transferred to html and posted online, the double

spacing within items disappears, as does the hanging indent, neither deviation acceptable

in hard-copy manuscripts. 26 November 2000; revised, 15 November 2002.—RWH]
