Enlil — “wind/storm god”; god of earth, wind, and air; the creator; separated heaven and earth; known for his anger; brought the great Flood
Symbol: Seven small circles in the form of the Pleiades

Ea — god of the sweet waters, lord of wisdom, and patron of mankind; promoted writing, building, farming, crafts, and magic
Symbol: a goat head on a fish body; constellations of Pisces and Aquarius

Shamash — the sun god; travels in a chariot pulled by fiery mules; promotes truth, justice, and law
Symbols: a winged disk or a disk with a four-pointed star inside; a saw

Ninsun — “the great wild cow,” she is the great queen of heaven and Gilgamesh’s mother; she is the goddess of wisdom, thus interprets dreams
